Michael D. Edens, Untitled,2008

This is a perfect example of abstract, to me. I can see many effects through my eyes, such as line, value, and form. Although this looks like someone splattered paint all over it, it holds precision. The element of line is presented throughout the overall art work. The lines vary in size from length to the width of every single one. Value is seen in the background. It is very dark, and then immediately turns lighter. This shows two contrasting shades coming together to produce a powerful art work. And finally, form is introduced by all the elements I mentioned. All of the lines and colors seem to make this painting pop out. It seems to be as if these lines are all tangled up, and are in search for something to feed on. I believe this art work represents a lost soul. A soul trying to find its place in a world, a light and dark world.
